I have been using the aluball for years and have resisted buying this due to poor reviews. Instead I have been using blender bottles instead.
Well, I finally took the risk and ordered it due to blender bottles being too skinny to really also balls to have room to properly blend. I would get a decent grog but would be moderate in effect (I use 3 balls with 1.5 tablespoons in each ball).
Wow! Made my first grog and it hit great..Bula! The bottle did not leak at all and was solid for grip and shake.

I hightly recommend. Thanks Kavafied!

It’s a great product and very easy and convenient to use.
The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of two small issues that cause spilling when you aren’t careful.
1- The seal for the cap isn’t great so you need to be careful when shaking otherwise it will leak from the top
2- When you’re pouring the last of what you made the ball would roll down causing a splash which sends the kava everywhere. I actually spilled a bit on my laptop because of this

Others it’s a great value, works great without the need of kneading a cloth
The cup has markings in ml and oz so it’s easy to get the portions right
So all in all I would recommend this product just be careful with spilling

I never ever review products, positively or negatively. I just simply do not have time. However, this really blew me away! I has the original method of preparing kava (the filter bag) but have never even used it. I am new to Kava and this filtering system is perfect for me! It's quick but I keep my kava in the shaker and keep shaking it before I pour it out. I love how they made the top of it into a shell. Such a neat touch, as I do not own any real kava shells. Kavafied outdid themselves with this for novices like me and for experts like the reviews on YouTube from real seasoned kava users. The kava itself? I suffer from anxiety, especially when in a big crowd where I must mingle and talk to others. I sipped on the Kavafied Kava Supreme during the day at a party at my house this past weekend and it just kept me at that calm level where I could really just get into good conversation but it is not mind altering. It's a great social drink. I do not drink alcohol so it was even more perfect. Check out the reviews on their kava on YT. Raving reviews! I'll stick with Kavafied. Especially with this ball and large mug system to filter it. Bula! ;-)

First off just want to say I love the Aluball idea and I like this company a lot. So, it does pain me to review this as anything less than the best. But, it falls short, especially considering it's the second iteration.

Pros:
- much sturdier even BPA FREE plastic feels and looks great.
- more room!

Cons:
- I agree with HB here, the top leaks far too much, sometimes worse than the first bottle, which is what I was hoping this one would address. Maybe they sought to do that and just came up short.
- Again agreeing with HB, I am a grown man and the cap is just too darn big to get the cap off without a ton of work. Can't imagine how somebody smaller would be able to do it.
- Lastly, while the top lid design is ambitious and cool, it unfortunately makes it so that, unlike the first Aluball with its flat top, if you want to just drink it from the bottle, the ball falls and covers the hole, making it difficult to drink from without some weird maneuvering.

Again, I support this company and am still glad I grabbed this Aluball and the last. I'm just hoping that the third iteration combines the first and second. Personally, I loved the first design, I just think the anti-leak seal along the inside could be more prevalent, and the reinforced plastic could be applied to that, along with a size somewhere between the first and second iteration, and it would be a winner.

I've had this for over 2 and a half years. I thought to myself the other day that I really should review this because I feel like these long-term reviews are what I seek out when buying a product. I use it about 4 times a week. My ball is untorn, still works, and the bottle itself hasn't cracked or shown any signs of wear. The ball does get white chalk on the screen after a month or so of use. I let it sit in a cup of WHITE VINEGAR and it clears the screen up.

Overall a solid and well-built product.

The "Pro" version that is available now (as of 2024) is not the same as the original shaker. You may see some older reviews that mention that the shaker does not seal, or is not very strong. Those reviews seem to refer to an earlier model. The new version is built tough, and it does not leak. On the downside, the kava it makes is definitely not as strong as what you can make with the traditional method. I don't think my "traditional" kava preparation technique is very good, and I'd say this device makes it about 75% as strong (for the same powder to water ratio) as what I make. You can however, use a second batch of water to get more out of the same powder. It is very convenient, so I'd definitely recommend it.
