Canker Sores

Canker Sore Overview:

Canker sores (Aphthous ulcerations) are characterised by damaged, inflammed sores in the mouth or oral cavity. They are often recurring and form after stressful events, or in those with poor immune function. The cause is generally unknown. 


Aetiology:

Canker sores are not well understood, and can form as the result of emotional stress, poor immune funciton, imbalanced oral flora, low serum insulin levels, food intolerances, medication use, and PMS, and with the use of dentures.
